Daily Practices

Mindfulness isn’t something you add to your day. It’s a way of meeting the day you already have.

The practices offered here are simple, short, and grounded in ordinary life. No experience is required. No special setting. Each one is an invitation to pause, arrive, and return to the present moment with curiosity and without judgment.

Whether you have three minutes or thirty, there is something here for where you are right now.

Begin anywhere. Return often.

Three Breaths

Opening Intention

You don’t need to find a quiet room or set aside a block of time. This practice lives in the space between one moment and the next. Three conscious breaths are enough to return you to yourself. That is all this is — a returning.

As with all mindfulness practice, the invitation is simply to arrive with curiosity and without judgment. Whatever you find when you get here is welcome.

The Practice

Find where you are right now. Sitting, standing, waiting. No adjustment needed.

First breath: Breathe in slowly through the nose. Feel the air as it passes through your nostrils — cool, quiet, arriving. Breathe out gently through the mouth and let it go completely. Nothing held back.

Second breath: Breathe in through the nose and notice your body — the weight of it, the warmth of it, the simple fact that it is here. Breathe out through the mouth and soften whatever is held.

Third breath: Breathe in through the nose and arrive in this moment exactly as it is. Breathe out through the mouth and rest there.

That’s the practice. Three breaths. One moment of return.

You can do this at a red light, before a difficult conversation, or simply when you remember. The breath is always available.

Body Scan

Opening Introduction

You don’t need to be flexible, experienced, or free of pain to do this practice. You only need a few minutes (12) and a willingness to notice what is already here.

The body scan is simply an invitation to check in. To travel slowly through the body and notice what you find, tension, ease, warmth, numbness, or nothing at all. Whatever is present is welcome. There is nothing to fix and nothing to achieve.

Most of us live above the neck. The body scan brings us back to the whole of ourselves, with curiosity and without judgment.
