As this month comes to a close, my life is about to change in a very real and welcome way.
Larry retires at the end of the month.
You often hear jokes about retired husbands suddenly underfoot, but that will be the least of my concerns. What I’m watching instead is a long-held passion finally getting the time and space it deserves.
Larry is returning to his first love, traditional woodworking, this time on a full-time basis. He has been a Windsor chair maker for years, but until now, he never had the freedom to build the chairs he truly wanted to make. Alongside chairmaking, he’ll also be creating wooden spoons, mallets, and charcuterie boards, all made in the same historically informed, hand-tool tradition.
I’m excited to be joining him in this next chapter as his full-time marketing manager. I’ll also be returning to small-batch, pure and simple soap making as a natural complement to his work. It feels like a return to work that is slower, more intentional, and rooted in craft.
We’re both genuinely excited about this next stage of life and would love for you to follow along as it unfolds.
You can find Larry’s work at LarryWoodWorker.com, and on Instagram at @LarryWoodWorker.
As always, thank you for your friendship, support, and encouragement. It truly means more than we can say.
With gratitude,
💕Jan & Larry
